Research Lines
LaFiM is an experimental laboratory in Condensed Matter Physics and Materials Science. Our research lines range from the synthesis of inorganic materials to the study of their physical properties and their behaviour under extreme conditions of pressure and temperature.
Synthesis and Characterization of Inorganic Materials
Development of micro- and nanostructured inorganic materials, with emphasis on transition metal oxides, including molybdates, tungstates and vanadates. We investigate the relationship between composition, crystal structure, morphology and physical properties through a range of experimental techniques.
Materials under Extreme Conditions
Investigation of the structural stability and physical properties of materials subjected to extreme conditions of pressure and temperature. The studies address phase transitions, polymorphism, amorphization, compressibility, thermal expansion and lattice dynamics, including in situ experiments.
Physical Properties and Functional Materials
Investigation of the relationships between structure and the optical, vibrational, electrical and functional properties of inorganic materials, seeking to understand and explore their potential for applications in sensors, energy, photocatalysis and environmental technologies.
